Notes on using VidPlayVST to display video for live performance
VidPlayVST has several features which are useful if you want to display synchronised video on a live stage...
Support for 2 full screen monitors
The video can be sent to 1 of 2 extra monitors connected to the PC. For 2 on-stage screens use 2 instances of the plug-in.
'Restore screen state' plug-in option
When a DAW project is saved away VidPlayVST records the current screen configuration (video window size and placement). When the project and plug-in are re-opened the screen layout is reinstated.
Multiple plug-in instances
If you have multiple songs in a single DAW project you can use a separate instance of VidPlayVST for each song, hosting a different video. Playback of each instance is triggered by enabling the 'Cue with any C note' option and placing a midi C note when you want playback to start. This will also bring the video window for the new song to the front of the window stack to ensure it is visible.
Host specific notes
Ableton Live
VidPlayVST will not work correctly in Ableton Live when there are tempo changes in the project. A fixed tempo must be used due to a limitation of the plug-in interface provided by this DAW.
Cantabile
VidPlayVST option 'Use PPQ Position' MUST BE SET.
